{"id":1008,"date":"2021-12-03T16:12:04","date_gmt":"2021-12-03T16:12:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thecrs.org\/?page_id=1008"},"modified":"2026-01-08T14:02:47","modified_gmt":"2026-01-08T14:02:47","slug":"sherwin-williams-outstanding-student-award-3","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/thecrs.org\/?page_id=1008","title":{"rendered":"Fall Video Essay Competition"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>\n\t\tFall Outstanding Student Video Essay Competition\n\t<\/h1>\n<h3>\n\t\tpowered by\n\t<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.walmart.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" itemprop=\"url\">\n\t\t\t\t<img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/thecrs.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Walmart-logo_cropped.png\" alt=\"Walmart logo_cropped\" itemprop=\"image\" height=\"180\" width=\"658\" title=\"Walmart logo_cropped\" onerror=\"this.style.display='none'\"  \/>\n\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t<p>The Video Essay Competition, powered by Walmart, was created to defray the cost of higher education for students.\u00a0 Award money can be used toward textbooks, study materials, or any expense related to the cost of achieving higher education.\u00a0 Students who are currently attending any 2-year or 4-year college or university may apply.<\/p>\n<p>First place:\u00a0 $100 &#8211; $150 (depending on available funds)<\/p>\n<p>Second place:\u00a0 $50 &#8211; $75 (depending on available funds)<\/p>\n\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/thecrs.org\/?page_id=657\" target=\"_blank\" role=\"button\" rel=\"noopener\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tApply Online\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t<p><strong><strong>Fall 2025 Submission Topic<\/strong><strong>: Workforce Retention<\/p>\n<p>Retailers are faced with a highly competitive job market and shifting workforce expectations.\u00a0\u00a0 What strategies can retailers put in place to address workforce retention and keep employees engaged and committed?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p> <strong><em><u>Rules &#038; Regulations<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Applicants must apply online and submit the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A completed application<\/li>\n<li>1 page executive summary (document any sources used)<\/li>\n<li>3 &#8211; 5 minute video (you may use any technology to record; student&#8217;s face must be shown in the video presenting)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Faculty running the competition as part of a course are allowed three entries.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Applications must be received according to the following schedule (there will be a different topic each semester):<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Application must be submitted by <strong>Nov\u00a01<\/strong> for the fall semester.<\/p>\n<p>Students may reapply each semester.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\nUse of Generative AI:<br \/>\nGenerative AI may be used for background research, but it is prohibited for idea generation or final deliverables.
