Feb 23 Event Will Shine a Light on Sports and Personal Branding

The Council for Retail & Sales at DeSales University is hosting an exciting “Meet the Experts” lunch & learn where panelists will dive into the world of personal branding. Attendees will learn how to boost their personal and/or business image, connect with fans, and stand out both on and off the field.  For this session, the expert panelists all hail from the world of sports and while the subject matter can be applied to any industry, this session will be delivered through the lens of athletes.

Joe Favorito, a powerhouse in sports, entertainment, and brand storytelling, brings more than 35 years of experience in strategic communications, marketing, and public relations to the panel. A Brooklyn native and Fordham graduate, Joe has helped shape the public image of some of the world’s biggest names and events—from the New York Knicks, Philadelphia 76ers, and US Open to Fanatics, the Harlem Globetrotters, and Major League Baseball. As an independent consultant since 2008, he’s guided global brands, leagues, and media organizations through bold strategies in storytelling, crisis management, and digital engagement. Named one of Forbes’ “50 Must-Follows in Sports Business” and a Sports Business Journal “Power Player,” Joe also co-hosts the CUSP Show podcast and teaches at Columbia University, where he serves as Director of Industry Relations for the Sports Management program.

Former NFL running back turned author, entrepreneur, and elite fitness coach, Andre Williams, will bring his expertise to the panel as well. A standout collegiate athlete and Heisman Trophy finalist, Andre made his mark in the NFL before channeling his passion for discipline and performance into building AW Fitness Club, where he empowers clients to transform their bodies and minds through next-level training and mindset development. Beyond the gym, Andre is a published author and motivational voice who brings the same intensity, focus, and drive that defined his football career to every aspect of his work, helping others achieve greatness on and off the field.

Rounding out the panel is Elspeth Huyett, who brings the same competitive spirit and determination that fueled her cycling career to her work as an Account Manager at Vault Communications, a nationally recognized PR and marketing agency. A former elite cyclist who raced on national and international stages, Elspeth has seamlessly transitioned her passion for performance into crafting powerful brand stories, managing strategic campaigns, and driving results for clients across industries. Known for her energy, creativity, and collaborative leadership, she blends the discipline of an athlete with the insight of a communications professional helping brands move faster, think bigger, and connect more authentically with their audiences. Elspeth currently serves as Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Valley Preferred Cycling Center.

Bobby Dingell, a senior at DeSales and a college athlete, will serve as the moderator. Bobby is studying Marketing and Data Analytics and is an outfielder on the DeSales Baseball Team as well as the President of the DeSales University Student Government. Bobby volunteers his time with the university’s chapter of Best Buddies as well as with Special Olympics PA.

The session will be held at the DeSales University Center in Center Valley at 11:30 am EST on Monday, February 23rd. The event will open with a complimentary buffet lunch followed by an approximately one-hour panel discussion, Q&A, and networking.
